Pre-Prep Students Enjoy African Drumming Workshop

On Wednesday 14 October, the students of Truro Pre-Prep took part in an African Drumming Workshop (image gallery here).

The workshop came about as a result of Year 2’s cross-curricular African themed projects. Head of Pre-Prep, Mrs Sarah Hudson, said:

“Over the last few weeks the Year 2 pupils have been comparing and contrasting Cornwall with Africa. When it came to African music and dance we decided to get the other year groups involved.”

In the morning Years 1 and 2 had their turn on the drums, followed by another two workshops in the afternoon for Nursery and Reception.

Workshop leader Paul Vermette, from Drums Up Music, said:

“The drumming workshop is about creating a fun space for children to express themselves. Every child will, at some point throughout the workshop, be empowered to stand in the middle of the circle and take the lead role on the drums”.
