Poltisco Boarding Update – Cinema and Hub Box

Many of the girls in Poltisco have started their GCSE mock exams so they have been busy revising and using past paper to practise their answers. By the time the weekend came the girls were looking forward to a few days break but have continued to work hard revising.

‘Trennick football’ which is held every Friday evening on the school’s astroturf was well attended by our girls. Gloria, Henrike and Ann-Kathrin played very well for their teams and Mr Austin was pleased with their performance on the pitch – the girls represented Poltisco brilliantly! While football was being played, Amelie and Helena were out at a Christmas choir performance in Falmouth which they thoroughly enjoyed.

On Saturday most of the girls went to the cinema to watch the new Hunger Games film. This was the final instalment of the trilogy called Mockingjay – part 2. It is a dystopian science fiction film that was a popular book before the films were created. Ann-Kathrin and Henrike really enjoyed the film and were waiting for its release as they have watched the previous ones. Apparently the girls tell me in was thrilling but wouldn’t give away the ending!

In the evening some of the girls went to the local Zen Noodle Lounge to enjoy a tasty noodle supper with students from both Trennick and Pentreve boarding houses. Many of these students are only here for one term and are getting ready to go home. They have built up strong friendships in their short time here, both in the houses and across them which is lovely to see. They cannot believe the end of term is nearly upon us and nor can I.

On Sunday the girls caught up on some sleep which was well deserved after a busy week of mocks and Christmas music rehearsals. Helena preformed with the choir at Truro Cathedral and enjoyed her time there despite an early morning for her. In the afternoon we all headed to the local ‘hub box’ for a tasty flame grilled burger. Most of the girls opted for a cheese burger with Helena choosing a pulled pork roll which she said was delicious – it sure didn’t last long.

This Sunday afternoon some of the girls are finishing prep or revising for the last of the mocks next week. Bonnie is back this evening along with Zennor so it is a busy house. After supper the girls will settle down and get ready for school in the morning. We can’t believe there is only one weekend left in boarding and the girls have planned their outfits and chosen the music for the boarding house Christmas party next weekend, always an enjoyable event.
