Our second week at school is over, and the girls have settled in well to school and boarding life. It has been a busy week at Poltisco, with flexi boarders in (Chloe Wardman in the 3rd Year and Ellie Sullivan in the Upper Sixth) and lots going on after school. The GCSE music class held a concert in the chapel on Tuesday and Sadie, Helena, Nicolette and Ellie all sang at Evensong in Exeter Cathedral on Wednesday afternoon, returning in the evening. Three of our girls attended the fantastic performance of Daphne Du Maurier’s Rebecca at the Hall for Cornwall with the GCSE drama group on Wednesday and came back full of praise for the production.
We were scheduled to cycle on the Camel Trail from Wadebridge to Padstow at the weekend but the weather forecast was so awful we cancelled it. Typically, we had blue skies and sunshine for much of the weekend. Some of the 5th Years went out for a meal on Friday and on Saturday most of the girls went in to Truro after brunch and enjoyed having some free time. In the evening the 5th year girls played pool over at Trennick while the others watched movies in the common room at Poltisco. On Sunday we headed off to Pool and the Poltisco girls played lasertag at Skulduggery with the Pentreve boys. After much debating about how they should be spilt in to teams, eventually we decided that girls against boys wasn’t fair (the poor boys who wouldn’t stand a chance), and had mixed teams instead, with the Red Team ultimately emerging victorious.
This evening the girls are getting everything ready for the school week again – the tumble drier is whirring away full of school shirts in the laundry, the girls are tidying their rooms and Nicolette and Chloe are playing the piano in the common room. When they are all ready, the girls plan to watch a bit of TV before settling down for the night. This week we will celebrate Sadie’s 16th and Cherry’s 15th birthday and also welcome Charlotte Boote in to boarding for a couple of nights.
