The Spring Term got off to an uncertain start this year, having to close completely for four days. On Thursday 7th only about a hundred day pupils managed to get in because of the sudden snow storm at just after 8am – and promptly went home again.
BEAT THE SNOW – GO BY BOAT
Being stranded at school by last Thursday’s snow was no problem for four Truro students – they were offered a lift in a boat. James and Hannah McCabe, and their friends Tom Finney and Lizzie Munro-Lott all found themselves unable to escape from the school when the snow came down, and needed to get home somehow to Mylor Bridge. In stepped Tim Tall, Head of Design and Technology, who offered the students a lift on his boat. James and Hannah’s parents Stephen and Catherine, who both teach Maths at the school, joined the four pupils. “We had to walk through the snow to Malpas,” explained James, ”and boarded the 33-foot sailing cruiser there. We had both sunshine and heavy snow on the voyage, and got home about two hours later. It was a beautiful way to beat the snow and ice!”
