OVER 150 FAMILIES ATTEND THE OPEN MORNING AT TRURO SCHOOL

Science experiments at the Truro School Open Day

Over 150 local families visited Truro School at their Open Morning on Saturday 7th November. The prospective pupils and their parents spent the morning viewing the school facilities, and having a go at various extra-curricular activities, such as trampolining and war-gaming, as well as subject demonstrations, including Ceramics, Design Technology and Science experiments. Current pupils at the school acted as Tour Guides, and one parent commented after the day, “[Our Tour Guide] did a great job and showed a great deal of kind patience during our tour, allowing us to speak to teachers without making us feel ‘pressed’. It was great to meet all the teachers and to see so much genuine enthusiasm from every single one of them – and from the students too come to that. We were genuinely impressed with the ‘relaxed buzz’ of the school.”

Paul Smith, Headmaster, said, “It is fantastic to have another successful Open Morning, and to meet so many new families from the region.”

The Open Morning also acted as a showcase for the new Dining Hall extension, which opened in October 2009 (shown below). The new facility took only 7 months to build and was completed on time and to budget, incorporating the latest environmental features including under floor heating, an energy management system and PIR lighting controls.
