Under 13 vs LVS Ascot in the National School Sport Magazine Cup Quarter Finals: Lost 29-35
Truro travelled up to Ascot on Sunday for this game which was played on Monday morning. Preparations went well and the squad were looking forward to the challenge. The match was superb for Under 13s with nothing separating the two teams. The score at half time being 17 all. LVS had masses of support for the third quarter and our 6 Mum’s and a set of grandparents tried to compete, but the noise was deafening! LVS took a narrow lead of 3 leading into the final quarter. Truro continued to persist but a few passing errors crept in and LVS pulled away. This was an incredible game and all of the squad should be extremely proud of themselves. The girls will have learnt a lot and will be ready for their County tournament and next years National School competitions.
Under 18A vs The Maynard School, Exeter: Lost 16-24
The squad waited nearly an hour for The Maynard to arrive, nevertheless when the game got started Truro had an excellent first quarter, moving well and playing some excellent netball. The Maynard came back strong in the next three very short quarters to win narrowly. A promising game in preparation for the Regionals.
Under 18B vs The Maynard School, Exeter: Lost 3-9
A tough game in fading light of four six-minute quarters saw found The Maynard in excellent form, moving the ball around beautifully and splitting the defence by using the wings effectively. Tessa and Sophie worked diligently in defence and slowed the visitors’ shooters down but, ultimately, school came up short in a fast-paced game.
Under 16 vs The Maynard School, Exeter: Won 17-7
After a long delay the team eventually took to the court moving the ball well but making errors with their decision making. With the opposition taking advantage of this the team needed to focus and adapt their play. The team steadied, played their own game and produced some super netball.
Under 13 Bryanston Prep Schools Tournament – Plate runners up
The Under 13s continued with their hectic week, barely recovering from their trip to Ascot, they were back on the coach again at 6.30am to travel to Bryanston for the Prep Schools tournament. It was a bitterly cold day. Truro were drawn in a section with previous winners Twyford, this in fact was their first match. Truro played well and were winning 4-3, the hooter went but Twyford had the ball and managed to score before the umpire blew her final whistle. Final score 4-4. Truro went on to win all of their other group games, playing some super netball. Many other schools and parents commenting on their lovely play. All of the squad played but unfortunately Truro went through as group runners up, Twyford having a better goal difference. This then saw them play Thorngrove in the plate semi-final. Truro dominating to win comfortably. Next up Millfield Prep in the plate final. Millfield wanted their revenge as this was the team we knocked out of the National Cup. It was a very scrappy game. Truro were incredibly unlucky with many decisions going against them. Millfield winning 8-5, with Truro suffering just one defeat throughout the day. Another excellent result for an exceptional squad. Molly was chosen as Truro’s player of the tournament.
