Kate tackles 32 miles of the Cornish Coast to raise funds with Scouts

1st Year student, Kate, kept herself busy over the weekend by taking part in a 32 mile coast to coast walk with her Scout Adventure Camp.

Raising money for Children’s Hospice South West and her Scout Club, Kate joined around 200 other scouts on a walk from Portreath to Maenporth for their annual Coast 2 Coast walk.

Setting off at 8.30am on Saturday morning, Kate and her friends tackled the hilly Cornish coastline for 8 hours before settling down to camp for the night at Stithians Showground and setting off again the next day for the second half of their trek, finishing at the other end of the Coast at Maenporth, 32 miles and some sore feet later!

Kate managed to help raise £200 towards the fundraising by asking for support from friends, family and from her parents work colleagues.

This was the second year running that Kate had taken part in the Scouts Coast 2 Coast walk and she has said it has definitely inspired her to give the school’s Ten Tors Challenge a try in a few years’ time, possibly even tackling the big 55 mile challenge!
