Joanna races up the National Badminton Rankings

Currently ranked as number 25 nationally in the Under 13’s Singles Event, 1st Year student Joanna is rapidly climbing the National Badminton rankings.

Joanna, who started playing Badminton in June 2015 at the Prep after-school Badminton Club, has had a very successful time since then. Her first tournament experience came in October 2015, at the Cornwall Under 13 Bronze event, resulting in a bronze medal in the singles and a silver medal in the doubles.

Following on from that encouraging start, Joanna has entered twelve tournaments and her willingness to travel long distances has been rewarded with many medals at various age groups. In June 2016, whilst at the Prep School, she was a key member of the school team who competed at the Cornwall School Games, winning all their matches and also the County competition.

Her recent successes include Silver medals in both the Under 13 and Under 15 Singles at the Kerrier Open, a gold medal at the NDBA in both singles and mixed doubles, gold medals in singles and doubles events at the Gloucester Under 13 Bronze event, and gold medals in the Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16 singles at the Wellington tournament.

With her national ranking currently at number 25 in the Under 13 singles, Joanna is also playing at number 2 for the Truro School Key Stage 3 ‘A’ team. She is also the holder of County titles in the Under 11 singles and mixed doubles.

Joanna is a member of the First Edition Badminton Club and plays at County level for Cornwall.
