Hockey Match Reports – Week Beginning 18 January 2016

Under 16 Girls vs Redruth (PSP)
The girls went out strong and powerful right from the start whistle. They played well as a team transferring the ball around the back and waiting for gaps to open up instead of forcing the ball through. The opposition got tired and Truro were quick on the break taking advantage of the oppositions match fitness. It was a great game and Redruth did have opportunities which they didn’t use but our girls ensured they didn’t miss there opportunities. Final score: A much deserved 6-0 win.

Under 18 Boys vs Mount Kelly
The Under 18s game was end to end play, the boys worked hard and the game was extremely intense. It was a high intensity game and both teams played well to keep the momentum up as it was extremely fast paced and physical. The score doesn’t reflect the game, I think the boys deserved a drew but were unfortunate in the last few minutes to concede two goals which came from quick breaks. Final Score ended: 3-1 to Mount Kelly.

Under 14 Boys vs Mount Kelly
The Under 14s worked hard to control Mount Kelly but sadly they could not hold back their forwards and went down 4-0 to a much stronger and well structure squad. They worked hard and at times showed potential but sadly they played most of the play down the middle of the pitch not utilising the right wing.

Under 16 Girls vs Richard Lander
The Under 16 girls hockey team travelled to Richard lander on a rather wet and cold afternoon. The game was extremely fast paced with play going from end to end. After the first half ending in a draw the girls had everything to play for. The girls battled strong and played some lovely link up play as a team but we’re caught on the back foot a couple of times where they conceded two goals. With only a few seconds to go we had a route one ball come from our defence that hit our left wing who drove down the wing to cross it for our centre forward to finish very calmly. Game ended 2-1 Richard lander.
