The somewhat depleted, due to swimming and drama, Under 12’s and Under 13’s competed in fixtures against both Penrice School and Polwhele House this Wednesday. The Under 12 and Under 13 combined A team faced a very strong Polwhele House team that included both county and club players and unfortunately the gap in terms of experience was too large. Ella dutifully stepped in as goal keeper due to illness and was faced with a very daunting task.
At half time the score was 6-0 but the girls had not let their heads drop. Following a half time team talk that encouraged them to be more confident, to play the ball wide and to challenge the player taking the shot at goal the girls played much better in the second half. Ella proved herself to be very handy in goal, saving numerous Polwhele attempts and even a penalty flick!!! Madi played superbly and ran off a number of knocks whilst Kim showed just how far her skills have come on this term. A 12-0 score line sounds like a hefty defeat but I was really proud of the girls mature manner and work ethic throughout.
